First is this: TriMet looks forward to upcoming negotiations and remains committed to having these bargaining sessions covered by the mainstream media so the public can be informed about the process.
The only mainstream media I trust is Jeff Gianola of KOIN TV although the NW Labor press should be just fine. The 'mainstream media' is actually the worse media to cover a story. They don't have the time to adequately investigate the story and in most cases the mainstream media is simply in place to support the corporate/government propaganda.
The other interesting section was this:
The operating budget is contingent upon the arbitration award for the expired contract with the Amalgamated Transit Union being upheld and TriMet’s new contract offer is agreed upon.
That assumes a lot. The first contract most likely will be upheld but to 'assume' that the union will give in lock stock and barrel to the most recent cuts is crazy. See executives get raises, union members get the axe.
