Michael Anderson, one of the best transit reporters in Portland, although I frequently disagree with many of his conclusions does a pretty interesting podcast. But what caught my attention is there little segment on twitter. The co-host distinctly said 'its getting harder and harder to find positive tweets about Twitter. Apparently they only cover 'positive' tweets about Trimet. Almost like Trimet itself, that ignores everything bad but accentuates the good.
Twitter is the best barometer of how the public feels about its transit system. It's about 5:1 negative

While I think the feedback on Twitter shouldn't be ignored, calling it the best measure of public opinion is a bit ridiculous. Only 15 percent of online adults use Twitter. While 26 percent of the 18-29 year old crowd uses Twitter, only nine percent of those aged 50-64 use Twitter. It drops to four percent over age 65. I think that's a far cry from representative of community opinion.
It's the only one line available feedback on the internet.
Therefore its invaluable for evaluation of Trimet.
Its not controlled by Trimet its totally independent.
I think Lily tries to pull a mix of positive & negative, but as she said "it's getting harder and harder to find positive tweets about TriMet"
