How do you know the driver of the bus not-in-uniform is not a terrorist hi jacking the bus?

Just think if someone called 911 and reported a terrorist driving a bus based on street clothes what the police might do?

Any other thoughts on uniforms out there?

A driver reporting a fellow driver for that? DESPICABLE!

All us wore once at least clothes on top our cheap uniforms to protect ourselves from element
besides that the job of supervisor
yes DESPICABLE as AL Said
we suppose look for each other..even if I see a safety issue, i will approach my fellow driver in private and advice him/her..NO EXCUSE FOR THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR

lol I always wondered why his nick name at Powell
Garage was RAT BOY

Let's keep the names in this case off the public blog. I have no way to verify who it is since I don't know him.

If a reader wants to identify the rat they need to step forward with an identity also

Not quite on topic, but this puts me in mind of what took place during training at TM.

I wasn't issued uniform before line training started so I drove the bus in street clothes as I didn't have much choice.

Wasn't that big of a deal at the time, and the first time the line trainer pulled over, got out of the seat and I jumped in, the looks and comments from some of the riders were priceless.

Nobody reported it, nobody complained, and yes I could have been a terrorist, but in the end we all had a good laugh and it makes for a good retelling.

Should driver "rat" on other driver? Everyone has their own opinion of that (I say no FWIW), but maybe some people should lighten up and not be so hard-nosed.

We don't know what he was NOT wearing-maybe it was just a hat for crying out loud. A union brother doesn't go out of his way to make trouble for another union brother

Line training for sure, I just saw someone the other day coming bavk to the garage. It does make me sick to know we have a driver that would be such an a hole. Someone should write him up for wasting dispatch's time.

When listening to the audio, I just assumed that it was a road supervisor communicating with control. This was actually an operator calling this in? I’m not familiar with the TriMet radio system.

Yes, if it was in fact an operator reporting another operator, that is way out of line and should be reported to the Union. At the agency I once worked, we were to report any issues with another member to our shop steward and if the incident was particularly egregious, to one of the executive board members or to one of the officers. That was drilled into us by the Union from the very beginning that we were never to report another member to management for ANY infraction we observed or dispute we had with another member. Local 757 must not have the same emphasis on that issue as our Local.

And I agree, it sounds as if it very well could have been a trainee. To me, if this in fact was an operator calling this in, my message to him coming from an ATU brother: you have much more important things to be concentrating on while operating a transit bus than to be calling in to report something that is actually none of your business nor should it be something about which you should be concerned.

The second link is a call from an operator (of another bus) to dispatch, and the first link is dispatch (afterwards) telling a supervisor.
