Your annual number of rides given is a very accurate representation of the work you did as a bus driver that year.

This number is available from the trimet "Public Information Request" page or from:

The number of "cash sales" you provided is a very accurate measurement for "each trip" or "each day"

This will pin point exactly how much work you did and justify ALL the time it took.

Example: A potential passenger running across the street for the late bus, then digging for change, then arguing their excuse is right and as always you are WRONG, DUMB & STUPID is maybe the biggest consistent waste of dwell time the bus has. A pro does not get mad, show emotion, or allow it to bother them, they just count the cash sales and document it.

Every iNiT cash ticket has a consecutive number printed on it in the lower right hand corner, it does the factual counting for you.

Heads up:

This area of "Work Overload" is the very reason bus drivers get white shirt jobs, management jobs, or maintenance jobs.

Quite frankly, this ability to handle such extreme stress is the difference between a real Professional bus driver and say a 7:00 to 3:30 repetitive speaking bus driver trainer.

Your Dispatcher, Assistant Manager, Garage Manager and Station Agents ALL fear this addictive adrenalin encounter of human interaction the Professional Bus Driver endures EVERY WEEK, EVERYDAY, EVERY HOUR.

The real "POWER" lies in ones ability to do this very enduring emotionally stressful task at hand because

THIS IS HOW REVENUE IS MADE and at some point our indebted Government will stop handing out Growthie Grants and we will be forced to scramble for this impatient instant gratification collection of cash.

When the Professional "Real" "Genuine" Bus Driver catches another Late bus Packed Out with Pissed Off revenue Paying Customers they do not "Dog Them" by wasting time at the bus stop a 1/2 mile back, they do not follow them down the street on their bumper watching them endure a human rolling living hell, Nope!

They safely pass them and start aggressively picking up people as if they were insanely addicted to the task at hand.

Then YOU reciprocate and do the same, no matter how packed, how pissed, how I really don't care your excuse , just get the job done aggressively but SAFELY as possible.

This aggressive amassment of passengers continues until the work is done and guess what you achieve at the end of the line a break of course; but, the POWER of Unionized strength and solidarity.

That's it, all there is to it in a nut shell. No boo who, crying, or gall I did everything today life is not fair tattle telling on anybody to anybody.

We unite and do this, we have ALL the contractual Power, raw locomotive hill humping horse power.

She can take her break and run late. She can timeslip if she wants to keep driving. Dispatcher isn't refusing her break.

she can take ....short and sweet solution
also good points ..when catch to late bus ...and not argue with customer and handling stress,
overall great comments and i only disagree with numbers and revenue parts

If tri met was concerned about safety they would not cut lines and would schedule according to loads. They have the info. Their intent is to create extra stress on drivers, deprive them of their breaks while demening them constantly via the media, dispatch, road supervisor and station agents. SIP slips with alledged accusations with out every knowing who your accuser is and then you are given the SOP and reminded to shut up and not to say anything. Your not allowed to defend yourself and your never ever backed up by Tri Met.I agree with Henry there are many "TROLLS" on this sight with an agenda and lots of propaganda. Al has created the perfect avenue to get the message out that TriMet can't shut down. Here is a message for you Trolls. You have pissed off more people than you convinced to be on your side. We know you are there and your scared shitless of the Clackistani group and the initatives they keep winning. This is an election year and more people are pissed off at the old fart retread that is in office now. Take heed to this that a Republican just may be your next boss and those puppets appointed on that board will soon be gone with new replacements. And lets not forget about the many other groups you have pissed off who are ready to make a legislative change in the way you do business. I predict next year at this time Neal will no longer be the general manager either because he will be replaced with a true transit professional that wants to serve the people not the people serving him.
