TRIMET OFFERS $1000 REWARD FOR INFO IN THE LATEST BUS DRIVER ASSAULT

It's chump change of course but I guess they are regulated as to what they can offer

A $1,000 reward has been offered to help find a suspect in a Thursday night assault on a TriMet bus operator in the St. John's neighborhood.

The unidentified driver's Line 4 bus was parked near the intersection of North Richmond Street and North Syracuse Avenue, when the driver took a break around 10:50 p.m., said Roberta Altstadt, a TriMet spokesperson.

A heavy-set man, described as in his 20s, standing 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighing about 300 pounds and wearing a thin mustache, had reportedly boarded the bus half a mile earlier at North Kellogg and St. Louis Avenue.

After being informed that he hadn't paid the correct fare, the man reportedly yelled at and punched the operator.

The pair fought until the suspect took off on foot in the direction of the Safeway store at Richmond and Syracuse Street, Altstadt said.

Portland police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. TriMet is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to report it to police or call TriMet at 503-238-RIDE.
